CONFESSIONS  Saturday 11  -  12

Callum Brown,   Thanks for your kindness for our Student for the Priesthood, Callum, last week in the retiring collection. I will leave the buckets out this week again in case anyone missed them last week-end. I realise that times is hard for everyone, but if you could spare a wee gift for him, I am sure it would be a really good help. He has made ‘his home here’ so he is ‘family’. Many thanks in advance.

St Alban’s RC Primary School will be advertising for a Head Teacher this week. The advert will appear in al the usual outlets and I wanted to let everyone know that the position was available. Please spread this information and add your prayers to all concerned in the appointment process.

MISSION WITHOUT BORDERS  :   our knitting charity keep many people in the parish busy with their needles! In a few weeks the founder of the charity will be coming to St Alban’s to thank everyone personally and tell us all a little bit more about the ‘blankets & toys & Scarves’ that are made and where the go to help the poor and cold.

A few weeks ago we prayed for Ellena Gilraine from Oswaldtwistle, a young lady that we have taken to Lourdes on a couple of occasions. Ellena was taken very ill in Majorca recently bit has made a great recovery and is now back home in Ozzy. She and her family want to say ‘thank-you’ for al the love and prayers received from all at St Alban’s.

Our Lady & St John’s pupils return this week to the temporary site on what was Shadworth High School. Much of the old school on the North Road site will now be rebuilt and in just over a year we will have a fantastic brand new build for our students. It will be tough for a bit  -  but it certainly wil be worth it!!

WASTE PAPER  Many thanks to all who bring in Waste Paper :  You can bring it in Carrier bags / melon type boxes / strong cardboard boxes  etc….   The Church is usually open from around 8 am to 5 pm in the evening  (Side Door  - i.e. the bottom one near the presbytery)

To celebrate the Year of Faith which begins in September, the deanery proposes to celebrate the roots of our Faith witnessed by the Lancashire Martyrs. It will focus on our patron St. John Southworth, an icon of whom will be used in major celebrations and will tour all parish churches. There are many other saints and martyrs from our area. We are looking for volunteers to organise this venture and volunteers to research the information

The new board next to the Garden of Remembrance unfortunately hasn’t been completed  by the High School before they broke up. So it will be a while before it appears with all the plaques on it. Sorry.

Our Lady’s Chapel is getting closer to being restored. We found that we had to take more plaster off the bottom wall, so, more expense, but it will be repainted as soon as the plaster dries out! Any contributions will be gladly accepted!! God bless you all.  Many thanks to Bill Shaw who has and will again paint the Chapel in ‘Our Lady blue’ – you also should get a Gold Medal…. Well 2 now !!!

Further to the notices which appeared over the last two weeks we are now in a position to let you know of more specific items which we require for the shop. We thought that we would make it more interesting by having  “themed” window displays. We require good craft items, cross stitch, knitting wools, card making kits, painting by numbers etc for a craft window and ceramic plant pots, seeds, small garden tools, ordinary plant pots, gardening gloves etc for a garden window. Another theme might be duvet sets, towels, pillow cases, sheets, kitchen linen etc. or toys, games, jigsaws etc. for a children’s window. Of course we want all the items we have already requested but we thought it might attract people if the windows were themed differently throughout the week. ON THE SAME SUBJECT THERE IS NOW A ROTA LIST AT THE BACK OF THE CHURCH. IF YOU CAN SPARE A MORNING OR AN AFTERNOON, OR MAYBE EVEN A DAY, PLEASE PUT YOUR NAME AND CONTACT NUMBER DOWN. WE SHALL BE GLAD OF YOUR HELP.

You Are Very Special

In all the world there is nobody like you. Since the beginning of time, there has never been another person like you. Nobody has your smile, your eyes, your hand, your hair. No one

owns your voice, your handwriting, your unique way of communicating with others.

You’re Special.

Nobody can paint like you. Nobody has your taste for food, music, dance or art. Nobody in the world sees things as you do. In all time, there has never been anyone who laughs in

exactly your way, and what makes you laugh or cry or think may have a totally different response in another.

So  -  You are Special.

You’re different from any other person who has ever lived in the history of the world. You are the only one in the whole world who has your particular set of abilities. There is always someone who is better at one thing or another. Every person is your superior in at least one way. But nobody in this world can reach the quality of the combination of your talents, your feelings. Though all eternity, no one will ever love, walk, talk or think exactly like you.

Remember  -  Your Special

You are rare, and in all rarity there is huge value. You’re special, and it is no accident you are. Please realise the God of heaven and earth made you for a special purpose. The God of light and love has a job for you to do that nobody else can as well as you can. Out of billions of applicants, only one is qualified. Only one has the unique and rich combination of what it takes  -  and that one is  you.

You Are Very Special

Our children will light a candle and pray for your

intentions at the Blessed Grotto.

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
