CONFESSIONS  Saturday 11  -  12

A Prayer:  the Carrying of the Olympic Flame

Loving Father,

may the fire of the Holy Spirit                                                   Heavenly Father,

be aflame in our hearts                                                          Your Word teaches us

empower us to run the route in life,                                       that those who wait upon the Lord

that you have in mind for each of us.                                     Shall run and not be weary,

With Jesus at our side                                                              shall walk and not faint.

Our strength is renewed                                                      But you also remind us

And we run and do not grow weary,                                      that the race is not always to the swift

Walk and do not grow faint.                                                   nor the battle to the strong.

Bless all who accompany us on life’s journey,                       Help us to remember

Who help us to run the race to the finish.                              That you are the first and the last,

Keep all of us faithful and loving. Amen                                    that you care for the last, as for the first,

and that you walk with us always,

From beginning to end to all eternity. Amen.

To celebrate the Year of Faith which begins in September, the deanery proposes to celebrate the roots of our Faith witnessed by the Lancashire Martyrs. It will focus on our patron St. John Southworth, an icon of whom will be used in major celebrations and will tour all parish churches. There are many other saints and martyrs from our area. We are looking for volunteers to organise this venture and volunteers to research the information

Huge thanks to Katie Duxbury who swam in the Ullswater Invitation Swim recently. You have to be 11 to swim in this event and Katie had her 11th birthday only a couple of weeks before the entry day. She swam the 500 metre course in the lake and has become the youngest ever swimmer in the history of the Event. She has raised over £750 for the Lourdes HCPT children which is a fantastic achievement – thanks Katie – you deserve a Gold Medal!

The new board next to the Garden of Remembrance unfortunately hasn’t been completed  by the High School before they broke up. So it will be a while before it appears with all the plaques on it. Sorry.

Our Lady’s Chapel is getting closer to being restored. We found that we had to take more plaster off the bottom wall, so, more expense, but it will be repainted as soon as the plaster dries out! Any contributions will be gladly accepted!! God bless you all.  Many thanks to Bill Shaw who has and will again paint the Chapel in ‘Our Lady blue’ – you also should get a Gold Medal…. Well 2 now !!!

The Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS)

is important and relevant for all. The parish community, in collaboration with the home and school, has a privileged opportunity and responsibility to help all concerned to grow in their faith. This is a lifelong process. To achieve this we need to help those involved with parish catechesis to share this vision and have an adult understanding of their faith.

The Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS) is designed for people who are

engaged in the communication of their Catholic Faith, whether directly or indirectly. It is

open to catechists, people involved in liturgical work and other interested adults.

The CCRS can provide general theological knowledge and offer a better understanding of the Catholic faith. It will help participants to increase their practical application of the faith in their ministry in the Church. It provides the means to accurately and effectively communicate the principles of Catholic teaching.

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
