CONFESSIONS SATURDAY  11 TO 12.   &   5.45 to 6.15pm

STATIONS OF THE CROSS:  Friday & Saturday at 11.55

The Season of Lent begins this Wednesday. It is a Day of Fasting and Abstinence which helps us to begin lent in charge of our body and telling it that ‘it will be a bit hungry today’. No meat or some alternative for those who don’t eat that – and just one main meal in the day. Lent combines the three disciplines of Fasting, Prayer and Charity Giving If all 3 of these come easy to you I don’t know what kind of saint you must be! But for 40 days we will give it our best.

PRAYER:  There are the Walk we me Booklets at the Piety stall 50p and that’s half price!!   But they are good and have prayers for every day: we have our Early Friday Mass at 7.30am

FASTING: On the Friday’s of Lent we will have ‘Soup & Rolls’ in the Sacristy after the 12.15 mass. I will put the heater on !!  We can have a chinwag and some little talks about Lent / Cafod, prayer etc… nothing to heavy but we will see how it goes and our donations we will give to Cafod.

GIVING: People are always encouraged to give in Lent and our Government has joined in! They have announced that they will give £1 for £1 to any Charity that gives to foreign aid. The charity has to produce a vast amount – but Cafod will qualify. So -  every penny we can collect for Cafod this Lent will be doubled by the government £1 4  £1  !!   So please take the Green Envelopes home or even a specially prepared Cafod Box which are at the church doors. HAPPY LENT

RESCUE SOCIETY COLLECTION  The Diocese now call this the Charity “CARITAS” AND IT INCLUDES the work of the children’s services along with many other caring activities. Many thanks for the £120 which has been handed I so far; especially for the ‘Gift Aid’ bit which all adds up.

HCPT Charity Gala Dinner  This will be held at the 6th Form College of Our Lady & St John’s on North Road on Friday 2nd March at 7pm. There are limited number of tickets.

NEW REPONSES AT MASS

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

THE GLORIA

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen
.

THE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen
.

SANCTUS

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

People:
A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

LAMB OF GOD

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
