12 noon  Requiem   Matthew James (Matt) Boardman

9.30 & Rosary at 9.10

CONFESSIONS SATURDAY  11 TO 12.   &   5.45 to 6.15pm

Matt Boardman’s funeral and celebration of his life will take place here at St Alban’s on Tuesday at 12 noon. He was baptised at St Joseph’s in Darwen by Fr Knowles who will be with us on the day. Matt, with his mum teaching here, went to school at St Alban’s and received all his other sacraments in our church. I am sure we will have a full house/home on Tuesday to thanks God for his short but full life. We pray not only for him, but especially for his parents, Diana & Paul and their parents; Mikey & Niall, his two brothers; Rachael his best friend and her family; and all his close relations and many, many friends. Words are not easy now – nor will they be on Tuesday, answers to difficult questions never are  --  why the economic crisis – why Syria and its troubles –

Why to any type of suffering or pain. Jesus came not to speak words of answer to these questions or to sort out the ‘why’s’ in our minds  -  as in today’s Gospel when faced by a deeply suffering soul who pleaded his help Jesus cried out – “Yes, I want to heal you” and stretched out his hand and touched him and healed him. Jesus has an invisible hand reaching out to us all today and this week and always. It wasn’t just the man’s leprosy that he touched, I am sure Jesus was trying to reach into the man’s heart, head and soul where there was a deeper pain. One of a mixture of anger, frustration, ‘why me’ etc ….  The Good Lord asks us to be his voice, hand and presence in difficult times. So say a prayer, give a smile, share a hug and be patient yet positive. God rest him in his peace and his arms.

Please keep our bishop, Terence, in your prayers; he has had an operation this week and been fitted with a pace maker. He is now good heart and will take a few weeks to recuperate.

‘I Believe, Action Cambodia Today’

Last week the newsletter informed us of  a mother, father, seven children and grandmother who  had been made homeless because of their house collapsing in our village out in Cambodia. As you will know recent floods have caused damage to many houses and Jesuit Services have a team of workers who have been repairing these properties over recent weeks. Unfortunately they only had a limited budget and a short time to carry out the repairs before the rainy season. The house was damaged by the flood but only collapsed after the floods had passed. By this time the budget had been allocated. Re-building this house would have meant cancelling other repairs as more money from Jesuit Services would not have been available for months, the builders would have had to be brought back to the site, but not until the rainy season had ended in next November. Your donations have enabled the builders to plan the completion of all the repairs including the re-building of the family house. It will be a wooden and bamboo structure built on concrete piles and ready in a matter of days for the family to move into. There is no water supply or electricity to install. $2,000 was sent to Fr. Greg at the beginning of last week and the order was given to start building. Many thanks

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
