CONFESSIONS SATURDAY  11 TO 12.   &   5.45 to 6.15pm

Please keep in your prayers, Matthew Boardman, and his family. Diana & Paul his mum and dad; brothers Michael & Naill and his grandparents and relations & friends, in particular Rachael his special friend. Matt has been a brick in the fabric of St Alban’s school since he was born. His mum is our present acting head teacher, Rachael works at school and he himself went to St Alban’s. Even when he was at Our Lady & St John’s he would come back after school and help with the children in after school activities. He has helped in a voluntary basis for years and recently he has joined the staff officially. It is with great sorrow that I have to tell you that Matt died suddenly on Wednesday evening, peacefully at home. The family are awaiting information from the Coroner about what has happened. We know he suffered from epilepsy, but barring driving a car, it did not prevent him from living life to the full. He was a football fanatic, both in coaching the children, (like his dad), playing himself and going to Ewood. He was described as St Alban’s ‘Pied Piper’ with the children ever following behind him. Such tragedies test the faith of saint and sinner; but we join with the family & friends in heartfelt prayer and offer all our love, sympathy and care to them all. The funeral will take place here at St Alban’s when we will celebrate Matt’s life .. short.. very sweet … full to the brim… a beautiful role model for our children; a young man full of faith, goodness, fun and care.

God bless.

‘I Believe, Action Cambodia Today’

Last week the newsletter informed us of  a mother, father, seven children and grandmother who  had been made homeless because of their house collapsing in our village out in Cambodia. As you will know recent floods have caused damage to many houses and Jesuit Services have a team of workers who have been repairing these properties over recent weeks. Unfortunately they only had a limited budget and a short time to carry out the repairs before the rainy season. The house was damaged by the flood but only collapsed after the floods had passed. By this time the budget had been allocated. Re-building this house would have meant cancelling other repairs as more money from Jesuit Services would not have been available for months, the builders would have had to be brought back to the site, but not until the rainy season had ended in next November. Your donations have enabled the builders to plan the completion of all the repairs including the re-building of the family house. It will be a wooden and bamboo structure built on concrete piles and ready in a matter of days for the family to move into. There is no water supply or electricity to install. $2,000 was sent to Fr. Greg at the beginning of last week and the order was given to start building. Many thanks

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
