THREE CHURCHES MEETING TO DISCUSS OUR AMALGAMATION

We are holding a ‘gathering’ for ALL THREE PARISHES after the Holy Souls 10 am Sunday Mass on 1st October in the hall at Holy Souls to share ideas & suggestions about the amalgamation of the 3 churches into one parish: it will be a Coffee Morning and Fr Jude will lead the discussion when he gets there after the Good Shepherd mass. There will be a general discussion of how we can best share our resources and unite ourselves into a stronger and more vigorous Catholic community. We also have to agree on an overall parish name as well. All welcome. Thanks . Jude

HELP ! We really need 1 or 2 people to take charge of the Altar Clothes here in Church. Every now and then they must be taken off-replaced with clean ones – the soiled ones taken to the dry cleaners (we have one who does a good rate!) – so it isn’t a mammoth job; but it is an essential one. The only ‘training’ !! is to show you where we keep all the spare altar clothes for the different altars: Yours in hope. Fr Jude

ITALIAN NIGHT ‘FOR ACTION 4 CAMBODIA’- CHANGE OF DATE.

Due to ‘logistical problems’ we have had to change the date of our ‘Italian Night’ in The Good Shepherd Hall. It will now take place on Saturday, 7th October.  Doors will open at 7.30pm. The evening will include Italian food, music, quizzes and the inevitable raffle. The last ‘Italian Night’ proved to be one of the most successful and enjoyable events we have organised. Tickets are £10 per person and will be available at our three churches from Saturday, 9th September. Please remember to bring your own liquid refreshment. Donations of raffle prizes will be gratefully accepted. Ciao.

LAUDATO SI and the SEASON OF CREATION  1st September to 4th October

Pope Francis’s encyclical on ecology, Laudato Si, is a call to all of us to champion our responsibility to care for the environment, or as he calls it: Our Common Home. In the encyclical, the Pope reminds us that climate change affects us all, but especially the poorest and most vulnerable .  To stand up for them, and for the future of our own children, action must be taken to curb the negative effects of climate change that we are responsible for. In collaboration with the Global Catholic Climate Movement, we are kicking off a pledge drive that will help our Catholic voices be heard. The pledge is being signed by Catholics around the world to say we will work to be more carbon neutral in our own lives, in our parishes, and to encourage our international leaders to take climate action now.

THE PLEDGE FORMS ARE  NOW AT THE BACK OF CHURCH

We would encourage you to add your name to the LAUDATO SI PLEDGE which you will see on the table at the back of church. - the frequently asked questions were published in the last three newsletters.

“LAUDATO SI’, mi’ Signore” – “Praise be to you, my Lord”. In the words of this beautiful canticle, Saint Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. “Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs”.   [1]     [verse one from Laudato Si]

JOIN OUR GREEN PARISH GROUP If you would like to know more about how we as a parish community can develop our efforts to become more aware  and act upon the message of Laudato Si … Please mark an asterisk  next to your name on the pledge form…or contact Bob  phone :07590513127 email:  rfturn@hotmail.com.
