BISHOP ARNOLD LETTER TO US ALL AT ST ALBAN’S, GOOD SHEPHERD & HOLY SOULS

Following the publication in January 2017 of my proposals for future parishes in the diocese, I would now like to formally invite you to enact the next period of consultation regarding the specific proposed amalgamation of your parishes. The purpose of this consultation is to ensure that the proposed new parish will be able to satisfy the spiritual needs of those within its boundaries and to begin working out the practicalities of how the existing communities will come together into one.

There is a formal procedure for this consultation and a report will be presented to me and to the Presbyteral Council in due course. Once I am satisfied that everything is in place, I will formally constitute the new parish and will inform you of that decision at the time.

I ask you to co-operate fully with this process and help me in the task of shaping our diocesan parishes to serve present and future needs. I recognise that change is not easy and so we ask the Lord to be with us in all our deliberations: Stay with us, Lord, on our journey.

With my prayers and good wishes. John Arnold Bishop of Salford

KNIGHTS OF ST COLUMBA: Meet at St Albans’ for their regular Saturday meeting at 11 am in the Presbytery  -- if you think you could help work for the church in this way – please pop along for a chat. They then lead the Rosary each Saturday at 11.45 In Church.

The Diaconate: for Laymen is now being started in our Diocese and there is a leaflet about it at the back of church. Married or Single…. A great love & practise of the Catholic Faith together with some time to trained are needed. COULD THIS BE FOR YOU?

OUR 3 CHURCHES TO AMALGAMATE INTO ONE PARISH Please God this will be ratified at the next Presbyteral Council Meeting .. with ‘guess who’ as its Chairman!

If anyone has any thoughts / comments // suggestions - please do let FR’s Jude or Joe know.. either in writing or speak to us. The Churches will retain their own names.. but we will need an overall name for the whole geographical parish. Whatever we can do together and share the resources we have we will for the growth of the faith in our neck of the woods and the good of the Diocese.

Please let us now your thoughts. Thanks Fr Jude.

OUR LADY & ST JOHN’S RC HIGH SCHOOL:  Congratulations on your recent Religious Education Inspection: The School was inspected last week and it was found to be “Outstanding” in every area of the school’s life. This is a great credit to both Teachers, Students, Parents and the local Clergy for their work, energy & professionalism. Our school is a great credit to our faith and the work it does in creating harmony in our town between the different religious communities to which people belong. Well done.

LET’S HELP THE PARISH FAMILYPlease pray about how each one of us can do more to

strengthen the Parish family & the 3 Churches: We do need help in plenty of ways:

In Church:    Helping with the collection / welcoming people & handing out hymnbooks / Church Cleaning / Reading at Mass / Helping to distribute Holy Communion / Taking Holy Communion to our House bound or poorly parishioners……  we need ideas for times & ways of Prayer / Help with deepening our faith / a sense of outreach to people who could be interested in learning about our faith… list is pretty endless!!  More to come!!

COMMUNION TO THE SICK AND HOUSEBOUND If you know of anyone who would like a regular visit please complete the details on the form below:-

We are grateful to many of our parishioners who have volunteered for this important ministry already. It is part of our priestly duties to visit the sick. We are delighted to be able to support our parishioners in any way.

COMBINED RWM

SCHOOL: 77%   NATIONAL: 61%

Our KS2 results are higher than national average in all subjects, with our combined result of RWM being 16% higher than national results. While academic achievement is given high priority in school, this is never at the expense of a broad and balanced curriculum for all our children.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful staff at St. Alban’s for the part they play in the education and care of the children of St. Alban’s.
