MANCHESTER

We remember especially those who have died and suffered in so many ways from the suicide attack in Manchester; especially Michelle Kiss and her family as we prepare for he Requiem Mass on Monday.

The Feasts of Easter, Ascension and Pentecost are the absolute opposite of what we have seen. Jesus died brutally… and I often wonder ‘why’…. He was do good, so kind… he was and reflected God in his life.. Easter reminds us that evil / sin / brutality.. are always with us BUT will not win or conquer. Jesus rose from the dead, is with us now.. showing us his wounds in his hands & side.. and saying I am with you in your wounds too .. together we will RISE from any darkness around us.

The Ascension reminds us that Jesus lifts us up from anything that would bring us down.. and Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit (The Comforter) comes to us… I think  he is like the ‘glue’ that binds our faith and strength together .. the Apostles were like lumps of jelly before the Holy Spirit came upon them.. when he toughed their hearts and souls they jumped out of their ‘locked upper room’ and spread God’s message of love and forgiveness  -  peace and hope – they faced persecution but their spirit was never broken… and neither will ours be broken by what has happened in Manchester or anything to come.

As we say at Mass: Let us lift up our hearts and Give thanks to God.. for his presence, strength and love to support us in the good and the bad times of life, knowing that he never deserts us and in the Footprint Prayer carries us even without us knowing.

AMALGAMATION OF CHURCHES-- UPDATE:- We have already begun the process of creating 1 parish with 3 churches & communities. Please God the more we can do together as the months and years go by. Fr Jude thinks our situation here is more about ‘dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s’ than anything complicated. Leaflets for your ‘name’ suggestions for the overall name of the newly formed parish can be filled it in & return.   WE WILL HAVE A MEETING TO CONSIDER OPTIONS.

LET’S HELP THE PARISH FAMILYPlease pray about how each one of us can do more to
