Callum Brown, who has been here with us since October on a placement by the Diocese went to see the Bishop on Friday. After the meeting, Bishop Brain accepted Callum as a candidate for the Priesthood. In September he will begin his training with a year at Valladolid in Spain. He is over the moon and ever thankful for the prayers and support he has received from everyone here at St Alban’s.

Bishop Brain will be with us the Saturday for a Confirmation Service. Our children, those of Holy Family Parish and lots of the young people from the Polish Community plus some older people who haven’t yet been confirmed will receive the Sacrament from the Bishop this Saturday at 10.30.

It is an open parish celebration and any and all parishioners are welcome to come and pray with the bishop for the children.

Father Joe O’Carroll celebrates his 40th Anniversary on Monday 13th June: We will have a Mass to celebrate this and pray for him on Saturday 18th June at a special Mass at 12 Noon. There will be a celebration with some refreshments in the Parish Social Centre afterwards which I hope you will attend. My first appointment as a priest was to St Mary Magdalene’s in Burnley and I followed Fr Joe there  -  I’m sure he went to St Alban’s at that time  -  which means he has served here from 1973   --    a mere 38 years!! We can have another bash in 2 years time as well !! So, spread the Good News and come along for the 12 o’clock Mass on Saturday 18th.

Fr Kevin O’Neill – who served from 1964 to 1993 at St Mary’s College  -- will be having a Memorial Mass at the College on Thursday 16th June at 6.45. Once again, please spread the news of this  -  Kevin touched many hearts

And minds. The Mass will be held in the theatre named after him.

Our Lourdes Children and Families and Helpers are going on their Annual Sponsored Walk on Sunday 12th June  -  in a couple of weeks. If you would like to join the big Walk then please take a Sponsor Form from the Church Doors and come along. We depart from the Car Park opposite St Peter & Paul Church  in Barrowford at 12.30. It is a gentle walk along the Canal Bank; we stop for a drink !! we always do !! and return back at Church around 4.30 ish.  The more the merrier  -  we take wheelchairs /  buggies  /  prams  /  OAP’s and pets as well as the fit and healthy  -  so clearly everyone can do it  - and it makes us all a few bob.
