ST ALBAN’S SOCIAL CLUB & FAMILY CENTRE

The building adjacent to our church has been a significant facility for this parish; firstly as a school since 1866 but in later years it has been supported by parishioners & their families as their social centre.

If there isn’t a Private Function on a Friday evening: there will be BINGO with the 1st House at 8.30pm : Club opens at 7.30pm AND on these occasions there is a free supper…so please come along and support the Club. Thanks

 

NURSERY is mornings only at the moment. On Tuesday afternoons we will be having a Caterpillar Club for parents and children under 3 from 1.30pm to 3pm. This Tuesday 13th September there will be a “come & look” and sign up session form 2.30pm to 3.15pm.

 

FR. JOE’S SISTER……. Sr Ella has finally gone to her Maker.. at 6.30 Thursday morning after Joe had shared the Rosary, Anointing & Prayers for the Dying. She gave a little puff of breath and still with a smile on her face went to meet the Good Lord. Eternal rest grant onto her O Lord.

 

ADVENT / CHRISTMAS FAYRE AT ST. ALBAN’S SOCIAL CENTRE  SUNDAY 4th DECEMBER

Proceeds to be shared between the Parish & Fr Ephraim’s work in Kenya.

There will be Stalls with  --  Christmas Gifts  -  Chocolate Tombola  -  Jarbola  -  Cake Stall etc.

Father Christmas will be there as well!!

 HOW YOU CAN HELP NOW:- We will put out a box at the back for Church for:-

--Any kind of CHOCOLATE (little bars to boxes)  EMPTY JARS (with lids) / Any Christmas Gift Bags

--TOMBOLA PRIZES / Any BOTTTLES (Full ones !!) / Anything Chistmassy. Many thanks.

There will be the usual M & S Hamper Raffle & a WINNER TAKERS ALL Bumper Drinks Hamper.

 

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE 2017 - VOLUNTEER INFORMATION MEETINGS The 85th Salford Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage will take place between 28th July & 3rd August 2017. We are seeking volunteers, both medical and non-medical, to assist our sick pilgrims so that they may fully partake in our pilgrimage programme. We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities and there are many areas in which you can get involved. We invite you to attend one of our Volunteer Information Meetings to find out more about joining our pilgrimage family. Why not bring a friend along too? If you can’t attend any of the meetings listed below we’d still love to hear from you. Please contact the pilgrimage office for more information:- lourdes.pilgrimage@dioceseofsalford.org.uk. We are grateful to many of our parishioners who have volunteered for this important ministry already. It is part of our priestly duties to visit the sick. We are delighted to be able to support our parishioners in any way. 

 

HOLY SOULS PARISH HALL BRUNCH CLUB --An invitation to St Alban’s & Good Shepherd Parishes

                             The Brunch Club at Holy Souls hall has been running on Mondays at 12 noon. We serve soup and roll followed by cake with tea or coffee for our local community in the Brownhill area.

MOTHER’S PRAYER DATES AT ST. ALBAN’S (All on Wednesdays now starting at 3.30pm)

These are little gatherings to pray for sons & daughters of families who have drifted away from the practice of the faith, a great heartache for their mums & dads. These gatherings are for mums who want to pray together for this need and intention. They take place as follows :-  WEDNESDAY 19th October & every fortnight

 

FOSTER CARERS NEEDED - CARITAS FOSTERING

There continues to be a desperate need for more foster carers, especially for teenagers, sibling groups and parent & child placements.  If you, or anyone you know, is interested in providing a young person (who is unable to live within their own birth family) with a home, please call Caritas Fostering on 0161 817 2250, where you will be assured of a warm welcome by Lindsey, Clare or

 

CAFOD Many thanks for all your donations to CAFOD: through Green Envelopes / Money box behind bottom  door into Sacristy / donations and Flowers from Weddings. Money back from Tins / Clothes / Old Wire  etc.. so far this year it has come to £1,182

 

ACTION 4 CAMBODIA. Many thanks to those people who attended our social in The Good Shepherd Parish Hall on Saturday 24th September, and to those who supported the event in any way .We raised just over £330 which will go to our education and health project in Cambodia.
