These are little gatherings to pray for sons and daughters of families who seem to have drifted away from the practice of the faith, and which is very often a great heartache for their mums and dads. These gatherings are specially for mums who want to pray together for this need and intention. They take place as follows:-

WEDNESDAY  10 August          24 August                7 September …… and every fortnight

KNIGHTS OF ST. COLUMBA:  Rosary every Friday evening at 7.30pm in Church. All and everyone are welcome, whenever you can make it.: please use the side door near to the presbytery.

Thanks to the Knights for leading us in prayer.

The Medaille Trust: Mavis Deeney from Good Shepherd has agreed to be the contact for the parish. She has advised that currently there is a “Knit and Knatterthon” taking place in Clitheroe in which they are knitting 8” squares to make blankets for Syrian Refugees. For people unable to travel she thought they might like to knit a few squares with any oddments of wool they have. 100 squares are needed and she understands people from St John’s in Clitheroe have already done a few. With this in mind any squares that are made in the 3 parishes can be given to Mavis for onward transmission to her contact Anthony in Clitheroe. Thank you all.

MUSLIM LEADERS JOIN CARDINAL IN PRAYER FOR MURDERED FRENCH PRIEST

Courage needed to respond to evil with truth, justice and reconciliation

Together, as faith leaders, our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and all those affected by the murderous assault that took place today at the Church of Saint-Etienne–du-Rouvray in France.

We are deeply saddened and shocked by the brutal murder of Fr Jacques Hamel.

To commit murder at a place where people gather in peace to worship adds another layer of depravity to the violence that we have witnessed over the past weeks. We pray for the courage to respond to all evil with truth, justice, and reconciliation.
