ST ALBAN’S SOCIAL CLUB & FAMILY CENTRE

The building adjacent to our church has been a significant facility for this parish; firstly as a school since 1866 but in later years it has been supported by parishioners & their families as their social centre.

MEMBERSHIP  Please consider joining along with friends and neighbours if possible.

2016 IS THE YEAR OF MERCY

For the people of Good Shepherd, Holy Souls & St Alban’s we will have a series of Lenten Talks & Prayer. These will take place on consecutive Thursdays from 6.30pm and each session will last around 30 minutes.

“A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORD OF GOD” with charismatic speaker Mr Andy Hutchinson a retired Police Inspector and good long-time friend of Fr.Joe & Fr.Jude.

Venues and Subjects as follows:-

----Thursday 10 March at Good Shepherd : “The Prodigal Son”

----Thursday 17 March at Holy Souls : “A talk on the Cross & Reconciliation”

 

Every Friday at 7.30 pm the Knights of St Columba say the Rosary in St Alban’s Church:

 

YEAR OF MERCY: HOLIDAY IN POLAND: Fr Jude is Chaplain and going on the trip from 5th – 12th Sept. The Holiday is being run by our Parishioners Gerry & Sue Flynn – ENJOY TRAVEL – we have had many wonderful trips with them over the years. This super holiday includes sightseeing trips every day. Auschwitz, the Famous Salt Mine, Schindler’s Factory, Krakow, Sr Faustina’s Mass & White Water Rafting!! Dinner/B&B, Flights & Free Coach from St Alban’s to Airport. Brochures at the Church Doors. Looks fantastic.

 

GIFT AID ENVELOPES:  These can be put in the collection plate at any of the 3 churches at Good Shepherd / Holy Souls or St Alban’s and we will pass them along to the appropriate church.

If you are a Tax Payer or your other half is the ‘tax payer’ and you do not use a Gift Aid Envelope – then please do ask for a Box of Envelopes as your church is missing out on 25% of your money!!

ADVANCE NOTICE FOR EASTER SERVICES

Where there are a number of Churches in a Parish, the Bishop is encouraging us to celebrate the Mass of the Last Supper together in one of the churches. It is a day when the priests renew their vows together, and a celebration of the First Mass of Jesus and his Apostles. For this first year we will have the one Mass at St Alban’s at 7 pm

COLLECTION FOR CAMBODIA MANY THANKS FROM ‘ACTION 4 CAMBODIA. £2000

Prayer for Cambodia. We ask Mary, the Mother of our Saviour, to help the people of Cambodia. We ask her to intercede for us so that God’s love and care may be felt in the lives of those wounded in body and spirit, and suffering from the breakdowns in society. We pray for those who are trying to improve the lives of the people of Cambodia and ask that God may give them the vision of a new, peaceful and invigorated nation and the means to create it. Our Lady of Cambodia, pray for them. Our Lady of Cambodia, pray for us.

on Saturday 19th March from 8.00pm til 11.00pm. Tickets including supper is £10 and please bring your own drinks! The evening features “The Dale Country Band” and “The Blackburn School of Irish Dancing”
