ACTION 4 CAMBODIA is holding a ‘Lancashire Evening’ in the Good Shepherd Parish Hall on Saturday, 12th September . Doors will open at 7.30. There will be supper, quizzes, music  and a raffle. Tickets are £10 per person, available at the back of church. We hope that it will be as enjoyable and successful as last year’s ‘Italian Night’. LEGION OF MARY TRIP  Medjugorje:  In 1990  Our Lady Queen of Peace prayer group was formed when we travelled to Medgugorje.  Members have met every Tuesday night since then for 25 years.  We currently meet at Good Shepherd Church at 7.30pm and to celebrate our 25th year we are returning to our roots travelling to Medgogorje form 1st to 8th October 2015.   Cost is £530 which includes flight and half board.  If you would like to join us please contact any member of the group or telephone Peter Costello 01254 262952

Sister Isabel at the Franciscan Convent welcomes anyone who is interested in joining a ‘Padre Pio Prayer Group’. Please contact her on 07960880336 for more details.

Please would you think about spending no more than 30 minutes praying on a Monday or a Thursday every week perhaps at 7pm or at a time more suitable for you once we have a group. The sick are mentioned in a special way and the prayers are beautiful. The group is for men and women!

If you are interested, please phone Sister Isabel Kelly at 01254 53962 or 07960 880 336.

Thank you.

Very many people of all faiths and none will be concerned about a Bill to legalise Assisted Suicide in England and Wales which will be debated in the House of Commons on 11th September 2015.  This private members Bill, introduced by Rob Marris MP, will have a free vote and it is important that people make their views known to their own MP ahead of this extremely important debate.

Information about the issues, together with resources and guidance will be circulated to all parishes in the next week or two.   There are excellent resources on the Bishops Conference website  and the website of the Anscombe Bioethics centre

I strongly urge all Catholics to contact their own MP as soon as possible to express their concern about the dangerous impact which such a Bill would have on the most vulnerable people. MPs do listen to their own constituents. What is needed is more and better palliative care, not assistance with suicide.
