FIRST HOLY COMMUNION parents Meeting this Tuesday at 7 pm. Come to the Presbytery Door: we will be in the Sacristy. It is for those in Year 4:  plus any parents of children who wish to make their 1st Holy Communion this year which will be on Sunday 3rd July at the 11.15 Mass.

The 1st Reading at Mass tells us about the busy times the Apostle were having and they soon discovered that they needed extra help in the work of God and the Church. They blessed a few people who became ‘ministers’ in the church. These good folk helped in whatever way they could and I am sure in time many more were added to their number.

Things haven’t changed much!! I am not claiming to be an ‘apostle’….. they are the bishops!! But I can see how the priests / apostle then and we priests now are seriously in need of extra help in the good running of the Church.

Readers at MAs /  people to help in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass at the weekend.. both in Church and to the housebound in their homes are 2 immediate ways of much needed help. Our St Vincent de Paul group that meets every 2 weeks on a Tuesday at 6 pm here in the presbytery is seeking people to come and share the work of visiting the sick /  housebound / needy……..

Our Church cleaning rota is getting a bit thin in numbers…. Either Thursday or Friday around 10 / 10-30 in Church  .. just turn up.. all is provided.

Many people come in cars to church and often, especially now that they have yet again altered the Saturday evening bus times  … I am sure there are some who would love a lift to Church on a “when you can do it” basis. So have a think; you may have some thought /  suggestion  /  as to how you can help in another way  .. please have a word with Fr Jude….. I am only one man and St Alban’s is a big Family that needs a family effort and teamwork. Thanks.

We will keep hearing more about the new Translation of the Mass which will begin this Advent; and before this it gives us all a chance to thing about questions all around the Mass. Ones like: “why do I come?”

“How do I pray?”          “How am I involved?”            “How do I prepare for  Mass?”         “How can I celebrate the Mass with greater love and feeling?”      Routine and habit can be a bit like ‘Dry Rot’  ..  they easily eat away at us and weaken our faith, love and zeal for the Lord who lived and died for us. We know he deserves much better from all of us. So let us proclaim our faith at this and every Mass  /  speak up at the responses and be involved more and more in the beautiful faith that god has given us all.
