THE WORD THIS WEEK

We begin our Lenten journey at the decisive moment of the flood, when God establishes his first Covenant with man, in the person of Noah. Noah was saved from the waters, while we (as Saint Peter points out) are saved by the waters of Baptism. This is the Covenant we live in, thanks to Christ, who came to establish this “new and eternal Covenant in his blood”. He is the only one who can do this, because he is without sin, despite “having been tempted in ever way that we are”.

FAITH, CHAT & DISCUSSION:  Saturday mornings in Lent 10.00 to 10.45 (after mass) at Good Shepherd Hall. Please come along and learn more of our Church

TOPIC THIS WEEK:    ‘The Future of our Diocese?’

Our Bishop John has sent out a Leaflet entitled ‘Preparing the Way…’ It contains many topics for the future of the Church and areas for us to pray, think & discuss. We will use it for this Saturday’s chin-wag on our faith at Good Shepherd Hall at 10 am.

HOSPITAL VISITS  Our Hospital Chaplain (Father Sean O’Brien) who lives here at St Alban’s) has asked me to remind everyone that if you have a relative in Hospital and the patient would like to have a visit from the priest or a chaplaincy worker….. and /or would like to receive Holy Communion or is in need of the Sacrament of the sick  …. Then the way it MUST happen is that you or the patient must ask the Ward Staff to contact the Catholic Chaplaincy in the first place. This is a safeguarding issue which has been instigated by the hospitals and which we have to abide by.

(Regular attendees of the parish can contact Fr Jude directly)
