ORDINATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD: Please keep Nathan Horne & Frank Mulgew in your prayers. They were ordained priests at the cathedral in Salford on Saturday for our diocese. Isn’t it good to know that men are answering God’s call to this vocation… it is wonderfula nd I for one can recommend it!!

PLEASE KEEP Laurence Gambella and Alfred Rebello in your prayers.I have had an e-mail from Laurence and he is OK and safe. The trouble in Cairo has not touched the part of the city where he is living and staying. He appreciates our thoughts and prayers and will saty put unless worse things happen. I think he will have a few tales to tell when he gets home in mid August.

FR. FRED’S 60th Anniversary of his priesthood is coming soon on Friday 12 July. Fr Fred has said that he wants to celebrate this with his colleagues at Freshfields rather than coming back here. So, if you would like to send his a card then that would be lovely. His address is: Herbert House 41, Victoria Road, Freshfields, Formby. L37 1LW I know people have written to him, and some have sent stamped Addressed envelopes.. and not had a reply… he is struggling. I suspect he can’t put a ‘face to a name’, even though he recalls the name.. he may well be embarrassed .. so send your love and prayers: I know he will pray for you. I am pretty sure that Fr Fred has cut his ties with Kenya now. He will be keeping them in his prayers but as far as sending money out there……….  Those days are finished, so send him lots of prayers.

Katie Duxbury’s Sponsored Swim:  Katie has done her 2nd swim and her third one, in Lake Ullswater is this Sunday. Maybe the warm weather will have heated up the Lake!! Thankas Katie and bless all those many people who have sponsored your fine efforts.  If you have promised her money on the Sponsor Form at the back of Church  - please pop your money in the Lourdes Bucket and tick off your name from the sheet – thanks you

CANONISATION of Pope John Paul 2nd and Pope John 23rd is likely to take place in the late autumn of this year. Here we have 2 popes in our lifetime about to be declared saints …  a real rarity. Gerry Flynn, one of our parishioners, who runs Enjoy Travel, is hoping to run a trip to Rome for this occasion. This would include flights, transfers, dinner, bed and breakfast in a hotel, coach travel etc… The date has not yet been fixed by Pope Francis, but we think it is imminent. Gerry is going country wide for this trip and the more … the less the price…!! We will give more news, when we have a date, but please have a word with Fr Jude or with Gerry on 504970 to know more. I recall my mum

went to Rome for the canonisation of Pius X11 in 1955ish.. she did it on £25 !!! the days!

CAFOD AND WASTE PAPER IS NO MORE!!!!! BUT….. PLAN B … everyone has to have a Plan B !!  Now we are collecting DRINK CANS…. Biscuits Tins etc… and ‘OLD & SPARE WIRE’

BLACKBURN FOOD BANK The good people who run the food bank  have been in touch with me. We now have a large basket to receive food in both churches. The idea is that if people can provide ONE item of food a week and pop it into our basket in church. If anyone wishes to help a bit more in this, please do have a word with me. 01254 672756

Red Mission Boxes: That time to bring them in please: do collect your magazine.

FLOODS IN LOURDES AGAIN: You may have seen the devastating floods in Lourdes last week which were even worse than the one in October  2012. The water from the River Gave almost filled the grotto itself. The Underground basilica and St Bernadette’s & St Joseph’s Churches have been devastated. Even the Hotel where we stay at Easter has had the basement flooded. Clearly bad for the Hotel; but we keep lots of supplies in the basement/garage so they will all have gone as well. The Insurance Companies call it an ‘Act of God’ …..  the poor mother Mary is having a hard time in Lourdes at the moment! They are resilient, the floods have dropped, mops and diggers have worked day  night and the Grotto is open now…. Say a prayer.

I spoke about ‘Readers etc.. recently.. It has pressed a few buttons with some people and Thank you for that. More help welcome; once again, please have a word to help the parish.

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
