The good people who run the Blackburn FOOD BANK have been in touch with me. We now have a large basket to receive food in both churches. The idea is that if people can provide ONE item of food a week and pop it into our basket in church. If anyone wishes to help a bit more in this, please do have a word with me. 01254 672756

The Food needs to get the Food Bank, below St Christopher’s School on Thursdays. Any Volunteers for this? Really would help.  Many thanks.

Faith in the Future: Next Session Sat: 8th (next Sat) at 10 am in the Good Shepherd Parish Hall

Our First Holy Communion Day is a bit later in the summer on Sunday 7th July.

PLEASE KEEP Laurence Gambella and Alfred Rebello in your prayers. Both of them are shortly to be ordained to the Diaconate. This is when they accept the vow of celibacy and enter into the final journey for ordination to the priesthood. Both of them are ‘local’ Blackburn’ lads!! It is wonderful to know that men are coming forward to share in the service and love of God and his people. Thank God we are not a dying breed. Alf’s mum isn’t too well, so please keep her in your prayers. Both of them swerved at last year’s Christmas Midnight Mass. Laurence lives in the Good Shepherd area of the parish. God bless and keep them both and all our prayers will be with them. We will look forward to their ordination to the priesthood in the summer of 2014. Who knows where ??

Red Mission Boxes: That time to bring them in please: do collect your magazine.

This Sunday: EUCHARISTIC RALLY here at St Alban’s. 3.00pm Benediction, Eucharistic procession around our grounds, prayers and a thought for the day on this special day of ‘The Feast of the Body & Blood of Christ’ which in previous days we called ‘Corpus Christi’. Thanks to the Legion of Mary for organising this afternoon of prayer and Adoration.

Developments in Cambodia.

As you will probably know Bob Turner visited Cambodia just before Easter. Jesuit Services have a hygiene programme out there and so he took with him 670 hygiene kits provide by your donations and those from St. Alban’s Primary School and Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Primary School in Blackburn, and St. Mary’s Primary School, Clayton. Your help has reached 670 children in one go. Also due to your support we have been able to buy the land for the extension of our school out there and arranged for its levelling so that building can start when the rainy season ends later in the year. Forty special hygiene kits have also been supplied and 15 more Bike Scholarships donated.

We still need your help. We shall be having an appeal with more information for you on the weekend of June 8th/9th, and on Saturday 15th June The Valley Singers will be giving a concert in The Good Shepherd Parish Hall. It will be from 7.30-10.00pm and tickets cost £5, and this includes light refreshments. All money will go to our charity. Tickets are available from the two churches. Any donations of raffle prices will be gladly received. Thank you.

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
