We welcome the Columban Father’s here this weekend. The Annual Mission Appeal will take place at all our masses. Our parish has always had a great tradition of care for the church here and far away. You can go back to the days of Bishop Hanlon, who led the Missionary priests into Uganda all those years ago, to the days of our own Father Fred in that country and especially in Kenya. We have developed a beautiful link in Cambodia and the parish contributes a massive amount, almost £3,000 by the Red Mill Hill Mission boxes last year. God bless you for your kindness again this weekend.

Next weekend we will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our little ones in Year 3 and our friends from the Polish community who will join us at mass. The Bishop has given us the ‘faculties. (permission) to confirm them once again.

CAFOD as part of their Emergency Fund for the refugees in Syria. Cafod is playing a major role in the recue mission for the many families who have had to leave homes & possessions to escape the bombings. Huge thanks to your kindness to the Appeal last weekend which raised over £650  Many thanks once again.

CAFOD AND WASTE PAPER IS NO MORE!!!!! BUT….. PLAN B … everyone has to have a Plan B !!  Now we are collecting DRINK CANS…. Biscuits Tins etc… and ‘OLD & SPARE WIRE’  This is for the ‘Copper’ inside; very profitable. Please, only legal stuff…. We don’t want any from beside railway lines or telephone exchanges!!  But any small bits help and it will add up. ALSO.. Old and clean clothes: it would seem that there is money in them..not in the pockets but by ‘weighing the in’. So, if you have any ‘old clothes’ please pop them into carrier/bin bags and bring them to church. The side door is usually open from 8 am to around 5pm Tuesday to Saturday and CANS… WIRE…CLOTHES… can all be dropped off or even better taken up to the top of church near the door leading to the Tower/Organ Loft. Many thanks from CAFOD.

Year of Faith  Procession in honour of Our Lady of Fatima:

Sunday 12th May at 2.00 pm from St Teresa’s Church on Bentley St. to St Joseph’s on Audley Range. Bring something to eat and leave it at St Joseph’s Church where you will be able to eat it with everyone after the procession.

The good people who run the Blackburn FOOD BANK have been in touch with me. We now have a large basket to receive food in both churches. The idea is that if people can provide ONE item of food a week and pop it into our basket in church it will amount to a lot of food for those in need. There are small explanation Cards in the Baskets with more information for you. If anyone wishes to help a bit more in this, please do have a word with me. Many thanks.     01254 672756

I spoke about ‘Readers etc.. at weekend masses last Sat/Sunday.. It has pressed a few buttons with some people and Thank you for that. More help welcome; once again, please have a word to help the parish.

The children will be making the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion in the coming months.

Those to be confirmed will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday itself; which is a wonderful combination for them. That is Sunday 19th May at the 11.15 mass. Our Polish friends who are to be confirmed will also join us at mass. The bishop has granted me permission to confirm them as well as our own.

Our First Holy Communion Day is a bit later in the summer on Sunday 7th July.

  • Empty drinks cans are set to replace waste paper!!!! They will be crushed and weighed in for cash for CAFOD.
  • Please bring them in carrier bags and leave inside tower door as before BUT only bring them in when there is a Mass or Service on.. NOT JUST WHEN THE CHURCH IS OPEN.
  • PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT NO FOOD TINS MUST BE SENT but chocolate and biscuits tins will be fine.
  • ALSO FOR A TRIAL PERIOD ONLY we will also collect old keys, padlocks and electric cables and flexes (without plugs)

Please remember our Parish Centre  -  if you are having a ‘Family Do’ or celebration; 21st, 40th   60th Birthday Party etc..  A celebration after a Baptism / Funeral / Wedding evening then please think to Hire our Centre for your Party. Pop in after Mass 4 a drink & a look in Tel: 661193 to enquire/book.

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
