This week is “Holy Week”: it is the most precious week of our year – a week for prayer, deep memory / remembrance and the joy of the Risen Lord Jesus in our company. We hope to share in the mind and love of St Mary Magdalene. The young woman who loved the Lord so deeply. She was one of those named in the Gospel as ‘a Sinner’. Well, we all wear that hat, don’t’ we! She discovered forgiveness from Jesus and rose from her ‘death of sin’ to a ‘happy new life of friendship’ with Jesus.

She followed the Jesus up Calvary Hill, clung to the cross and wept as he died. It would seem that she never left the Tomb of Jesus because she was the first person to meet Jesus when he rose from the dead. I bet she ‘wept again’ then!

What a whooow moment for her. Easter is our ‘whoow’ time. To be lifted from our sinful humanity / our frequent & persistent sins. To weep for our sins too and to experience Jesus’ forgiveness as Mary Magdalene did.

Holy / Maundy Thursday priest and people pray with the bishop in the Cathedral at Salford in the morning – a great mass of the unity of God’s people. In the evening we join the Lord & his disciples at the Last Supper and the Garden of Gethsemane.

On Good Friday, we can follow a cross on a walk from Little Harwood Clock Tower to the hill behind Bowland House. At 12 noon we can ‘Walk the Stations’ in Church hearing from those who were there. At 3 pm we share the story of the Passion of Christ. The Lord says very little during this – if ever the phrase ‘actions speak louder than words’ this afternoon we see the Lord in action and love for you and me.

We leave the altar sanctuary bear – empty – cold – we wait: only at the Sacred Heart Altar do we leave the signs of Jesus in the tomb  -  a place of prayer.

The Easter Vigil is the great mass of the Resurrection: The fire / light / Easter Candle, all symbols of the Risen Lord. The Water of Baptism and cleaning is sprinkled on us. The Lord is risen – he is among us, Alleluia! The Lord has risen from the Tomb of the dead.

We welcome the HCPT Children going to Lourdes at masss this weekend. They wil join us for the 11.15 mass. With the helpers and their families. One of our helpers will give a little talk about the trip and after mass please sign the petition sheets which we will take to Lourdes and remember you and yours at a mass. The usual Buckets will appear! You have always been so kind to them over the years and help make it all possible. This year we have 4 of our children from St Alban’s going with us as well!

Father Jude has celebrated his 40th Anniversary to the priesthood. I was and have been overwhelmed by the cards, words of love and kindness. The gifts from people  - the amount has bowled be over! Can I simply thank everyone for all the love, care and kindness shown to him over the years. The celebrations on Saturday involved many people who made it all ‘happen’  -  God bless you all and all my thanks and prayers again. I have been blessed by God, family & people in my years and have had so much to be grateful and happy for. God Bless.

WASTE PAPER  SKIP Many thanks to all who bring in Waste Paper over the years. SADLY WE HAVE TO STOP THIS AS THE MONEY WE RECEIEVED FROM ‘SHIRLEYS’ AND THE CORPOATION HAVE ENDED.       So from now onwards, please do not bring paper  - it will have to go in your own ‘recycling’ bins at home. Huge thanks to everyone who has helped CAFOD by this over the years  - it is such a great shame as it brought in a few thousand pounds every year.—once again many thanks to everyone and especially to the hardy men and women who came each month to pile it all into the skip.  .

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
