CONFESSIONS  Saturday 11  -  12  and    5.45 to 6.15pm

We pray for our new Pope Francis We ask that every blessing and strength of faith, wisdom and love will pour out of him. He has already come across as someone who will bring unity and joy to God’s people and a great influence of good to the world.

He comes from the Jesuit background. We used to joke, in the seminary, that the Jesuits were the S A S of the Catholic church. Partly to do with the long and strenuous training for the priesthood that they undertook  -  over 10 years. They were trained to be able to work anywhere, under any circumstances and be able to bring the message and love of God to people in the most distant places.

It has also been said that to make a Jesuit a happy priest  -  ensure he has in his room:  a writing table, pen and paper, a bookcase for his books and a bed  - then he will be a satisfied and content.

They are austere and frugal priests  -  highly intelligent  -  witty and full of the power of God.

I feel he chose the name ‘Francis’ to match his saintly simplicity and goodness.

I believe we have the right man at the right time at the head of the church. God bless Pope Francis.

PRAYER & ‘PAPAL DRAW!!         Some one must have won the ‘Prayer Sweepstake’ and has been praying for our new pope  -  WHO HAS WON ??????  There is an Easter Egg waiting!!

         May Francis, our new Pope,

be enlightened and empowered by the Spirit of God,

and promote peace and reconciliation

in the Church. May he be conscious

of the Father’s embrace of love and, with a cheerful heart, be a good servant

of the servants of God. May Pope Francis work well with his brother-bishops

that, together, they may help the People of God grow in faith and love.

Father Jude has celebrated his 40th Anniversary to the priesthood. I was and have been overwhelmed by the cards, words of love and kindness. The gifts from people  - the amount has bowled be over! Can I simply thank everyone for all the love, care and kindness shown to him over the years. The celebrations on Saturday involved many people who made it all ‘happen’  -  God bless you all and all my thanks and prayers again. I have been blessed by God, family & people in my years and have had so much to be grateful and happy for. God Bless.

WASTE PAPER  SKIP Many thanks to all who bring in Waste Paper over the years. SADLY WE HAVE TO STOP THIS AS THE MONEY WE RECEIEVED FROM ‘SHIRLEYS’ AND THE CORPOATION HAVAE ENDED. Too much paper in the world and now, no money in it !!!!!!!!! :

So from now onwards, please do not bring paper  - it will have to go in your own ‘recycling’ bins at home. Huge thanks to everyone who has helped CAFOD by this over the years  - it is such a great shame as it brought in a few thousand pounds every year.—once again many thanks to everyone and especially to the hardy men and women who came each month to pile it all into the skip.  .

Please remember our Parish Centre  -  if you are having a ‘Family Do’ or celebration; 21st, 40th   60th Birthday Party etc..  A celebration after a Baptism / Funeral / Wedding evening then please think to Hire our Centre for your Party. This week we received a belated Christmas and New Year message from Fr. Greg in Cambodia.

Dear people of the parish of St. Alban and Good Shepherd and all supporters of ‘I Believe, Action Cambodia Today.

God so loved the world that He gave his only Son.......” (John 3. 16).

This is the good news for us. God becomes human-a baby, poor and helpless. Our God is Emmanuel-God is with us-so close to us. We learn from the Infant Jesus the solidarity of God with us humans. We learn from Him the message of solidarity with the poor and vulnerable.

In this occasion of this Christmas season I would like to express my gratitude to all of you for showing your love and generosity through the solidarity with the poor and vulnerable people of Cambodia. Your assistance, partnership and cooperation serve as an encouragement for Jesuit Service-Cambodia to continue to do its mission, that is to accompany and work with disadvantaged communities in upholding the rights, the welfare and the dignity of the poor by implementing programmes that alleviate poverty, improve education, and establish just relations in Cambodian society.

I wish you a happy new year 2013. I would like to greet you in the Cambodian way by wishing you

All the best regards and God bless.  Father Greg.

Father:  The Lord be with you.      Our New Response:  AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT

The New I Confess                           I confess to almighty God

And to you, my brothers and sisters,

That I have greatly sinned,

In my thoughts and in my words, In what I have done

And in what I have failed to do,

Through my fault, through my fault

Through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, All the angels and saints,

And you, my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the Lord my God

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,  you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,  in the glory of God the Father. Amen

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes
in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Priest: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Priest: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God.
People: It is right and just

Priest: The mystery of faith.

A – We proclaim your death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

PRAYER FOR PEACE after the Our FatherLord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles, Peace I leave you,  my peace I give you, look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.  Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Lord, I am not worthy
that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed.

The Lord be with you    Response:    AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT
